The Brief
Maintaining the existing dining area and some of the existing planting, the brief was to make the garden appear larger, to add interest to include a shaded seating area for reading and to improve the outlook from the house. The Client also wished to have a small vegetable patch and a new shed.
The Site
A square level plot with an extremely sunny aspect, the garden was generally laid to lawn with a small path down to a dining area in the corner. One side of the garden was lined with a high Leylandii hedge.
The Design
The design introduced a new path that curved around the garden linking the house with the dining area and a covered arbour. New specimen trees were planted to introduce interest and more shade. The base of the dining area was tiled to improve its appearance and the planting took advantage of the dry sunny beds, so lots of lavender and rosemary.
